This screen controls who can create an account, what they are asked for, and whether visitors can chat as guests. Open it from Settings → Registration in the sidebar. After editing, click Update to save.
Member registration
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable User Registration | When Yes, visitors can create their own member accounts. When No, only an administrator can add members. |
| Ask DOB at Registration | Whether the registration form asks for a date of birth. |
| Ask Gender at Registration | Whether the registration form asks for gender. |
| Ask Country at Registration | Whether the registration form asks for a country. |
Guest mode
Guest mode lets visitors chat without creating a full account.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable Guest Mode | When Yes, visitors can enter through the Guest tab on the sign-in screen. |
| Enable Guest Name Edit | When Yes, guests can choose their own display name instead of being given one. |
| Ask DOB at Guest Login | Whether the guest form asks for a date of birth. |
| Ask Gender at Guest Login | Whether the guest form asks for gender. |
| Ask Country at Guest Login | Whether the guest form asks for a country. |
Guest mode must be on here before you can allow guest chats in an individual room. See Creating and Managing Chat Rooms.
Country detection
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Auto Detect Country | When Yes, the chat tries to fill in a new user's country automatically from their IP address. |
| GeoIP API Endpoint | The address of the service used to look up the country. The default works for most sites. (Only shown when auto-detect is on.) |
Email verification
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable Email Verification | When Yes, new members must click a link in a verification email before their account becomes active. |
If you turn on Email Verification, make sure email sending is working first — see Email and SMTP Settings. Otherwise new members will be stuck unable to activate their accounts.
