Creating and managing categories (Parents) and subcategories (Children) in JoomMedia is a simple process which begins at the JoomMedia Category Manager:
Adding A "Parent" Category
Once at the "Category Manager" area, click "New" to add a new category.
Enter the Title and type in a description (if desired) and click the "Save & Close" button. Leaving the Parent selection as "-No parent-" will make your new category a parent item.
After the new category is saved, you will be presented with the Category Manager screen. Your new parent category is appended to the bottom of the list. To rearrange the ordering of your categories, click the blue up/down icons under "Ordering".
Adding A "Child" Subcategory
At the "Category Manager" area, click "New" to add a new category.
Enter the Title and type in a description (if desired). Open the "Parent" drop-down and select the parent category you want to assign your new subcategory to. Now click the "Save & Close" button.
After the new subcategory is saved, you will be presented with the Category Manager screen. Your new child category is appended to the bottom of the list within the parent category you've assigned it to. To rearrange the ordering of your categories, click the blue up/down icons under "Ordering".
