Local and remote videos in JoomVideos

JoomVideos support uploading videos from local computer and also remote videos from other websites like Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and more.

Local Videos

You can upload videos from computer in all popular videos format (mpg, mpeg, avi, divx, mp4, flv, wmv, rm, mov, moov, asf, swf and vob) to your website and display them in your gallery videos, after that all uploaded videos will be converted to HTML5 video format using FFMPEG.

JoomVideos use FFMPEG program to convert videos which must be already installed in your server. Default installation of FFMPEG program support major video formats such as MPEG, MOV, WMV, AVi.

To support additional video formats you must install extra codecs to your server and then add these formats into Joomla Backend -> JoomVideos -> Configuration -> Uploading -> Allow Files types.

JoomVideos - Allowed Video Formats

All uploaded videos from computer (local videos) require conversion to the HTML5 format before they will be displayed in your website, so you must check FFMPEG program if is already installed in your server, read more here how to install FFMPEG

Remote Videos

You can embed remote videos easily from Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion and more by copying urls in remote video form.

Note: remote videos don't use FFMPEG program because JoomVideos just embed remote video inside video player
