Importing Files

You can import designs and revisions from a directory on your server. The necessary steps to do this are roughly as follows:

  • Upload files via FTP
  • Go to the Designs import manager
  • Select the files you want to import

Upload files

The files you want to import must be uploaded to a specific location on your server. To do this, you first have to know where Designs keeps all the uploaded files. By default this is in:

Root/images/com_joomproject/designs

From there, you need to create the following directory structure, if it doesn't exist already:
/project_(id)/_import
, where (id) is the id of the project for which you want to import files. So the full path looks something like this: Root/images/com_joomproject/designs/project_(id)/_import

You can now upload your files into the _import directory, or, you can already specificy the album or design to which the files belong by creating another folder inside the _import directory and upload your files there:

Root/images/com_joomproject/designs/project_(id)/_import/album_(id)

Allows you import new designs and automatically put them into the album with the specified ID.

Root/images/com_joomproject/designs/project_(id)/_import/design_(id)

Allows you import revisions to a design with the specified ID.

If you just place files into the _import directory, you can still choose how to handle each file in the import manager.

Import Manager

To access the import manager, go to:

Joomla Backend / Components / JoomProject / Designs

From there, you should see a new menu item in the component sub-menu, called Import.

The import manager will ask you to select a project if you don't have one selected. After that, it will list all the files that you've previously uploaded via FTP. For each file in the list, you can specify whether it should be treated as a new design, a revision of a design and to which album it belongs. When you are ready, select the files you want to import by ticking the checkbox next to each file and press the Import button at the top.
