The Members screen is where you view, search, add, and edit the people who use your chat. Open it from Users → Members in the sidebar.
The members list
The list shows every member with their avatar, name, username, email, type, and status. Two filters sit above the list:
- User Type — show all, or only Admins, Members, or Moderators.
- Status — show all, or only Active or Inactive accounts.
The list also has a search box (built into the table) for finding someone by name, username, or email.
Adding a member
- On the members list, click Add New User.
- If you want to link the account to an existing Joomla user, choose them from the Joomla user field — the first and last name fill in automatically.
- Fill in the rest of the form: avatar, first and last name, intro, birthday, gender, country, timezone, status, and user type (Administrator, Member, Guest, or Moderator).
- Click Save Changes.
Linking an Easy Chat Room account to a Joomla user keeps the two in sync, so the person can use their normal site login.
Viewing and editing a member
- Click View next to a member in the list (or open them from the dashboard).
- The member's page shows their details, when they joined, and when they were last seen.
- Change any details you need and click Save Changes.
On the same page you can also:
- Assign badges — tick the badges to award, then click Assign Badges. See Badges and Achievements.
- Manage their rooms — the User Chat Rooms table lets you Kick or Unkick the member from each room, or open the Chats preview to see the room as they see it.
Changing a member's role
The User Type field controls what a member can do:
| User type | Can do |
|---|---|
| Administrator | Full access, including the admin dashboard. |
| Moderator | Moderate conversations; may create rooms if allowed. |
| Member | Normal chat use; may create rooms if allowed. |
| Guest | Temporary, limited access. |
Deleting members
- On the members list, tick the checkbox next to each member you want to remove (or use Check All).
- Click Delete Selected.
Deleting a member is permanent and also removes their messages. Consider setting an account to Inactive instead if you only want to suspend access.
