Beyond sending messages, Easy Chat Room gives you tools to keep your conversations organised — muting, favouriting, blocking, clearing, and sharing. This guide covers each one.
Finding the conversation options
Each conversation has an options menu. You can reach it from:
- the settings icon in the conversation's top bar, or
- the Options button in the right panel.
The options shown depend on whether you are in a room or a private chat.
Muting a conversation
Muting stops a conversation from sending you notifications, without leaving it.
- Open the conversation's options menu.
- Click Mute.
- The conversation is muted. Click Mute again to turn notifications back on.
Marking a conversation as a favourite
Favourites are pinned to the Fav tab in the left panel so you can reach them quickly.
- Open a private conversation's options menu.
- Click Make Favorite.
- The conversation now appears under the Fav tab. Use the same option again to remove it.
Blocking and unblocking a user
Blocking someone stops them from sending you private messages.
- Open the person's options menu.
- Click Block.
- To reverse it later, open the same menu and click Unblock.
If someone has blocked you, the message box in your conversation with them is locked and shows a notice.
Clearing a conversation
Clearing removes the messages from your view of a conversation so you can start fresh.
- Open the conversation's options menu.
- Click Clear Chats.
- Confirm. The conversation is cleared.
Searching a conversation
Click the search button in the conversation's options or right panel, type your search words, and jump to any matching message. This is covered in detail in Replying, Reacting, and Managing Messages.
Sharing a room
You can invite other people to a chat room by sharing a link to it.
- Open the room.
- Click the share button in the right panel.
- Choose how to share:
- Get Links copies a direct link to the room.
- Share buttons post the link to Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, or Telegram.
- Email Invitation opens a pre-written email.
Recently shared media, files, and links
The right panel includes Media, Files, and Links tabs that collect everything shared in the current conversation. Click View More to see the full history of shared items.
