Easy Chat Room can place voice and video calls directly inside a conversation. This guide shows you how to start a call, answer one, and use the call controls.
Calling is only available if your administrator has switched on video calling. If you do not see a Call button, the feature is turned off on your site.
Starting a call
- Open a conversation with the person you want to call.
- Click the Call button in the conversation's top bar.
- The call connects and your video appears on screen. The other person sees an incoming-call alert.
Your browser will ask for permission to use your camera and microphone the first time you call. You must allow this for calls to work.
Answering a call
When someone calls you, a call alert appears on screen showing who is calling.
- Click Accept to join the call.
- Click Reject to decline it.
Controls during a call
While you are on a call, a row of buttons gives you control:
- Hang up — end the call.
- Camera — turn your video on or off.
- Microphone — mute or unmute yourself.
- Height — make the call window taller or shorter.
- Fullscreen — expand the call to fill the screen.
If the other person is busy
You cannot start a call with someone who is already on another call. Wait until they are free and try again.
Call history
Calls you make and receive are recorded, so you can see which calls were answered and which were missed.
