This guide brings together the personal settings you can change in Easy Chat Room — your theme, language, timezone, notification devices, and account status.
Choosing your theme
Easy Chat Room offers several colour themes, including light and dark modes.
- In the left panel, click the sun / moon button at the bottom.
- Choose Light, Dark, Default, or Custom from the menu (the available choices depend on your site's settings).
Your choice is saved on your device and used the next time you visit.
Changing the language
If your site offers more than one language, a language button (showing a flag) appears next to the theme button at the bottom of the left panel.
- Click the language button.
- Choose your language from the list.
The chat interface switches to your chosen language.
Setting your timezone
Your timezone controls how message times are shown to you.
- Open your Profile from the account menu.
- Choose your timezone from the Timezone list.
- Click Save Changes.
Setting up the rest of your profile is covered in Setting Up Your Profile.
Managing your notification devices
Each phone or computer you sign in from can be registered to receive push notifications. Devices are added automatically when you allow notifications in your browser — see Notifications and Unread Messages. Old devices you no longer use are cleared out over time, so you do not have to manage them by hand.
Privacy: status, blocking, and muting
Your privacy is in your hands:
- Set your status to Offline to use the chat without appearing in the user list.
- Block anyone you do not want to receive private messages from.
- Mute any conversation that is too noisy.
Status is covered in Your Online Status and Presence, and blocking and muting in Managing Your Conversations.
Deactivating your account
If you want to stop using the chat, open your Profile from the account menu and click Deactivate.
Deactivating removes your access to the chat. Only do this if you are sure.
